At ASC English, our students get to enjoy a great ESL education in a great city. With Boston as a backdrop, our students live a rich life both on and off campus. The thriving city is packed with attractions that students can take advantage of. Exploring the city is an excellent way to soak up the culture and practice English language skills. Here are just a few of the can’t-miss attractions in Boston.
Freedom Trail
Get up-close and personal with American history by exploring the two-and-a-half mile long Freedom Trail. Along the way, you’ll pass 16 sites of significance to the Revolutionary War, including Paul Revere’s house and a museum housing a large collection of memorabilia from the Boston Tea Party. The Freedom Trail also encompasses Boston’s Little Italy, the perfect place to get a taste of authentic Italian cooking. You can tour the Freedom Trail on your own or take a tour with a guide dressed in a period costume.
Institute of Contemporary Art
The Institute of Contemporary Art, or ICA, is located in South Boston. The building is one of the most striking pieces of architecture in the city. The huge glass back of the museum hovers over the harbor and offers stunning views. The surrounding Fort Point Channel neighborhood used to be relatively deserted but is experiencing a resurgence thanks to the ICA.
Charles River Esplanade
The Esplanade is a three mile stretch that winds beside the Charles River. There are plenty of places to stop along the way at playgrounds and lemonade stands. The wooded trail is also a great place to spot geese and other wildlife. Start at the Museum of Science and follow the trail to the Boston University Bridge.
